Reverse Engineering an Eco-Friendly All-Purpose Cleaner for the Australian Market
A Sydney-based OEM manufacturer was tasked with developing a high-performance eco-friendly all-purpose cleaner for a major retail client. The goal was to match the performance of leading “green” cleaning products already established in the Australian market — while meeting strict regulatory and sustainability requirements.
Without internal analytical capability, the manufacturer lacked visibility into how these top-performing eco products achieved both cleaning efficacy and environmental compliance. Labsure was engaged to provide a reverse engineering-driven formulation strategy to accelerate development and reduce risk.
Reverse Engineering an Eco-Friendly Cleaner for Performance, Compliance, and Cost Optimisation in Australia
Labsure helped a Sydney OEM manufacturer decode a benchmark eco-friendly cleaning product through advanced chemical reverse engineering, identifying its surfactant system, solvent structure, and functional additives that drive both performance and sustainability.
Based on this analysis, we rebuilt and optimised a performance-equivalent formulation designed for Australian market requirements, improving cleaning efficiency, reducing raw material cost, and ensuring full alignment with AICIS regulations and eco-certification standards (GECA / GreenTag). The final solution was also adapted for scalable local manufacturing using readily available ingredients.
This approach enabled the client to significantly reduce development risk, accelerate time-to-market, and launch a compliant, cost-effective eco-cleaner with strong commercial competitiveness.
